    A Texas notary's duty is to be an impartial witness to your signing, verify your identity, and ensure you are signing willingly. 

  • What if I need a certified copy of a government document?

    You cannot get a certified copy of a government document from a notary. You must contact the government agency that holds the original record. 

  • Can a notary prepare legal documents?

    No, a notary cannot prepare legal documents or provide legal advice unless they are also a licensed attorney. 

  • What identification do I need?

    You must present a valid government-issued ID. If you do not have one, a credible witness may be used to confirm your identity. 

  • How much will it cost?

    In Texas, a notary may charge a maximum of $10 per document, with an additional $1 for each signature.
